My first questions of 2025 for you:
Why do we so often want a map with turn-by-turn directions for life? Why the obsession with exactly what to do next, as if there’s a “right” answer hiding behind Door #3? Why do we expect our kids to know what they want
to be when they grow up now? Why resolutions?Â
Â
Goals can be great ... don’t get me wrong.
Â
They can give us purpose,
focus, and a reason to wake up and Waterfall with a smile every morning. It seems that we’re so laser-focused on where we’re going that too often we forget to notice how good (or even terrible) we feel right now.
Â
Let me propose something revolutionary (and, honestly, a little terrifying for all the Type A’s out there):
What if you let go of your goals? Not forever! For now. For today.Â
Â
Before you panic and think, “But Lisa, if I don’t have goals, won’t I just sit on my couch eating chips until I become one with the furniture?” Nope. I promise. What might actually happen is this:
+ You’ll realize how often you do things because you should ... not because you choose to for yourself.
+ You’ll notice what makes you feel alive, not just what checks a box.
+ You’ll get out of your head and into your body (spoiler: it’s a much cooler place to hang
out).
Â
Being “goal-less” isn’t aimless.
It’s not apathy or laziness. It’s giving ourselves permission to feel our way through life instead of muscling through it like an over-stimulated hamster on a wheel.
Â
It’s showing up, tuning in, and asking, “What feels good right now?”
Â
Here’s an experiment for you no matter your 2025 plans/goals/hopes:
Today, ditch the to-do list for an hour.
Set a timer. No planning. No achieving. No perfecting. Just be.
Walk, doodle, nap, try a Self-Care or Exercise Snack (ideas below), have a cacao, dance to your favourite song ... whatever feels good to you.
Notice what happens.
Â
Who knows? You might discover that living in the moment isn’t just a cheesy Instagram mantra ... it’s where the good stuff is .. where Wellness Intelligence becomes exciting.
Â
Let’s
embrace the art of being goal-less, even if just for a bit. It's a little thing that's a big thing. It’s not lazy. It’s liberation. What's the worst case scenario? It’ll make for a good story.
Â
Warmly, but without an agenda,
LB
