How long do you spend on
social media a day? Does it serve you well? Do you experience a stress response when you log in and scroll?
Do you need to take breaks because it's negatively affecting you? Have you noticed influencers trying to convince you that social media isn't healthy and that they are leaving for their health and you should too? (notice that they often come back over and over again to tell you this?) Perhaps the answer to the question, "Is social media a cesspool or
essential?" is, as usual, “it depends”. Maybe it’s both a cesspool and essential. If you’re a private client of mine, you will know from my monologues and strategy sessions that it’s all about YOUR relationship with the platforms, not the actual platforms. Social media platforms exist and YOU get to choose to use them (or not) and HOW to use them. I believe social media platforms (any and all of them) can serve as a focus group, tradeshow, networking event, community gathering, activism, sales
department, art gallery, educational platform, and more ... and it’s all available 24/7. How will you use the platforms? Which one? What is your goal? How much time will you spend? Do you interact with others? If for work, do you need to hire someone to do this work? Are you unfollowing and blocking as needed for your wellbeing? There are so many good
questions and I can help you answer them for yourself VERY quickly/efficiently if you'd like.
I also get asked more and more often about "beating" the algorithms ... especially on LinkedIn and Instagram. Whether it's for business or getting messages seen by more people. We all want to be seen and heard. MY SIMPLEST ADVICE: + Forget the
metrics. + Tell your story and share your messages authentically. + Don't simply push your posts ... engage with others meaningfully.
+ Talk to people. Social media is a tool to connect us - show up to connect. Every time you leave a comment, the next person who comes along benefits from whatever you have shared.
+ Follow what you want
to see, mute/unfollow/block what you don't want to see. Teach the algorithms. Remember, what you share creates your reality online as well. + Try my "Social Media Cleanse". It's a Self-Care Snack that REALLY works. And you don't leave social media, you shape your experience! Find that here. You'll feel better about social media with a little practice and perspective.
Not that you need another reminder, but, just in case, I am here if you need support or referrals for more
support. Social media can be less of a cesspool when you use it well.
Social media can actually support you and your business when you use it well. Don’t be concerned with the algorithms, you be you. Here's to more joy, smiles, education, connection and less
frustration! Let’s do/be better together. LB How can we work together? www.bordencom.com Want to book a session? https://calendly.com/lisaborden Have you read (or gifted) my books? https://bordencom.com/shop-borden-store/
